Efectos nocivos de las drogas de abuso sobre la sexualidad. Revisión bibliográfica.

Resumen:

El consumo de drogas sigue causando un daño considerable, reflejado en la pérdida de vidas valiosas y años productivos de muchas personas. A nivel mundial, se calcula que en 2012 entre 162 y 324 millones de personas, es decir del 3,5% al 7,0% de la población de entre 15 y 64 años, consumieron por lo menos una vez alguna droga ilícita, principalmente sustancias del grupo del cannabis, los opioides, la cocaína o los estimulantes de tipo anfetamínico.

Las drogas y su consumo prolongado afectan diferentes facetas de la vida, incluyendo la salud física, mental y cognitiva, pero lo cierto es que éstas también repercuten en otra área importante de la vida: la sexual.

Las drogas de abuso son frecuentemente usadas bajo la errada creencia de que aumentan e intensifican el placer sexual. Por el contrario, la respuesta sexual humana se ve gravemente afectada por el consumo de dichas sustancias, puesto que éstas alteran el normal funcionamiento del Sistema Nervioso, el cual controla las funciones sexuales. Por lo que la drogodependencia constituye un factor de amenaza para el disfrute pleno de una de las experiencias mas gratificantes para el ser humano como lo es la actividad sexual.² En este contexto, se realizo una revisión bibliográfica actualizada para abordar, los efectos nocivos de las drogas en la sexualidad humana y mostrar las particularidades de cada tipo de droga.
